Keeping your PC maintained is important for preventing problems and keeping it running smoothly. Users who download files without care, run too many programs at the same time, and ignore error messages, it’s time to take a lesson in computer care. Have at least one antivirus program installed onto your PC. You can download pretty decent free antivirus software such as AVG antivirus. With so many threats online including spyware, adware and viruses, you’re PC’s very likely to pick up something. Use several different programs to deal with specific threats. It’s quite a common occurrence for one program to pick up threat and not the other.

Crashing, freezing and atapi.sys blue screen errors are quite common problems you can experience from a nasty virus or rootkit. Worse case scenario your computer could be rendered unusable from infections. Although the majority of third party programs are safe to download on the Net, be vigilant as there are some that contain malicious code.

Many of the error messages and performance issues that you may encounter can be fixed with a good registry cleaning tool. Running a registry cleaner after a removal of a program will also help get rid of orphaned files which only bloat the registry.
